MICHAEL KORS

Michael Kors is an American fashion designer celebrated for his womenswear collections. Born Karl Anderson, Jr. in 1959, he changed his name to Michael David Kors at age 5 when his mother remarried.

Kors studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and began designing clothes at age 19. In 1981, at just 22 years of age, he launched the Michael Kors womenswear line at New York City's top department stores. The success of this line eventually led to a position as a womenswear designer and creative director at legendary French fashion house Celine. Kors left Celine in 2003 to re-focus on his own brand.
